Red Durian,

They will collect things for you that are not in their catalog if you ask them ; they know where most any indigenous species grows.

Ive sent them email so will update here when they get back to me.

If it is La lucuma or tataruba then the fruit are supposed to be excellent.

it should be this : Tuturubá or Taturubá, Pouteria macrophylla (Lam.) Eyma/ Lucuma revicoa

Do you know approx how long it could take to flower?

Siriguela usually refers to Spondias purpurea

you are right, however when I was asking seller he only knows it is yellow one, or knew only one of the local native name like caju.

If you are talking about the Spondeas sp., then it may depend on your seed source.  Here in S. Florida the trees are mostly female (all?) and therefore set fruit without pollination, resulting in seeds that do not germinate.  Propagation is typically done by cuttings, which involves simply sticking the cutting in the ground and getting out of the way.

seeds are from S.America seller from brazil so not sure from where exaclty they are.. I have read that the propagation is very simple and done just like you wrote, but didnt find anyone in Eu who grows it. So I just order 4 seeds, but if you have a tree near you would you mind to send me a cutting? I will pay you.. :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / siriguela germination help
« on: March 21, 2013, 09:50:57 AM »
Is there anybody who has any information about germination of siriguela?
if there is any pre- treatment needed and how long it aproximately takes?

I got 4 seeds that are about 2 months in the ground (they were soak before sowing for 24h) and have no signs of  progress

215
No need to graft them as they grow fast. Two in my yard were chopped down after they became booming thumpers dropping fruit everywhere in a short space of time.I wasn't super-impressed with the fruit. Some big park kepels dropped all their fruit early late last year because excessive heat and dryness.I should go and have another look.A couple of years ago I noticed clusters of fruit all over them and on the ground.

I tought it is slow to medium grower, do you know how long it could take for seedling to flowering?

I will have in 2-3 weeks about +35 seeds of keppel fruit - Stelechocarpus burahol from indonesia (Java) shipped direcly after removal from ripe fruit, that I would like to trade..
I am looking for jaboticaba seeds (in amount of 3-5 per variety), I have sabara, yellow and blue vexator I would like the others, mainly red/hybrid, fuzzy, white etc..
Also I am looking for eugenia sulcata and eugenia calycina, but I am open to any other trade offers.
Well If we wanted seeds of kepel we could just order from oscar and get 5 for 15.00 dollars. regards-PM

PedalaiMaster,
Do not be rude to other forum members. That will result in being banned from this part of the forum.
Sorry Sanitarium, just kind of worked up and murahilin sorry I broke the rules as well. Very sorry. regards- PM

thats ok, I am like a magnet for negative comments recently :)

Kepel is a beautiful tree.  Here is one near where I live.

What part of Java are your seeds from?  Kepel season was over on Dec 15 or so in the village where I was in East Java.  Those seeds are just now starting to germinate.

Derek, I have a friend in Java (Surabaya) and she preordered the fruits for me from grower in central Java. I could check back with her the exact area if you are intrested. I am also getting two fresh fruits (if it passes the customs) so will upload the pictures upon arrival. What I have read on internet the season should be in from march-april (blooming in winter nov.-dec).

To Oscar or anyone else:

Off topic : is it possible to successfully graft burahols?

I think some or many of you need to Google the saying I posted.  It does not mean and I was not implying he was begging.  The saying means, in a quick summary, you should be happy with what you can get.  With that understood, I wasn't implying he shouldn't ask for seeds but the distinction that he is willing to accept what ever cultivars are offered.

I understand some may need one or two specific cultivars for a collection or are in search of one specific but in this case the request was for seeds from each, or easily interpreted,  as seeds from all cultivars which IMO is/was unreasonable.

You are right that it could be intrepreted as from all cultivars or that I want all, for me as not native english speaker it was quite ok. But I meant that I want only few from any offered so if someone JUST e.g. would sell/offer me 15 or 20 seeds I would like to decrease the number as I wouldnt need them or used them. Also if I get seeds from 2-3 sources, I would stop looking as dont have room for more..so just misunderstanding

And thank you jesse, for sure I will send you email. Your Abistel sounds interesting, however it is shame I cant imagine the taste as I havent yet tried canistel or abiu :)

the discussion really goes off topic.

I wanted to buy the seeds and even if I would be a begger, this forum is right place (in my opinion) to ask for any of the seeds and as we live in free market demand and offer will cross in some point (in certain time and place).. Also I think there is always reason why is someone asking for free seeds (in reasonable amounts)
I have already been receiving some seeds for free, even when I was willing and want to pay for them. So would like to  say thank you to Jenny and Tomas(I contact you via diffrent forum:) )

I think I should explained my "requirements" more deeply to not be misunderstood or be feeling like I did something wrong..

As I know or from what Ive read there are lot of cultivars/variations and some are not so tasty, so I wanted just a seeds from good tasting tree - which probably everyone would like.
And I was not asking for any named cultivars so I am not on hunt for top tasting ones, and basiclly I have used the word cultivars just describe my demand that I am interesting in more varieties/differnces in taste, I do not mind if it the seeds are coming from seedling of seedling of some unknown cultivar as long as the taste is good.
Finally by demanding just few seeds of each = it is simple, I do not have room to grow orchads, in my zone 8b-8a, I am only able to grow these in greenhouse or sheltered over winter. And as above was already written the Abiu is still quite hard to find so I tought that if I want few seeds, someone who have just 1-2 spare seeds could be willing to sell them.
On the top it will be a big disapointment if I grow up the tree to mature and find out its taste is blend and full of latex, with context of time and space taken by this..

Here in mid europe (colder part of EU) is lot of people that are not aware about wide range of tropical fruits (few years ago, I was one of them) and those who do and are having smaller or bigger greenhouses and enjoy growing these are happy for any new speciment in their collection. Sites and comunities like this gives more rural areas oportunity to obtain seeds/scions much more easier. I am also sharing/exchanging my seeds that I bought/trade with other growers in my area.
