Mangoes in Mexico
« on: March 09, 2018, 01:30:32 PM »
I'm planning a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico next month. Can anyone suggest where I should go for the best mangoes?

I've read that the season has kicked off already. I've read posts from Raulglezruiz that Cajeta Mango may be found in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico as early as March. I've also read that Oaxaca is a major mango producer.

Sorry can't help never been in Oaxaca! Such a beautiful place, other than the conventional commercial mango, Tommy, haden, Ataulfo, etc, perhaps they have some regional varieties, look in the larger Mercados de frutas y verduras, if there's anything different should be there...

Right now there are around 5 different ones available in the market here in Peurto Vallarta ( all brought in from the south ) so I guess you should find some more varieties in Oaxaca.
