Tropical Fruit Discussion / First fruits on my Annona conica plant.
« on: October 03, 2021, 03:20:04 AM »
I have two plants from seeds given by Oscar, and a few days back I found three fruits have set on one of the plants. The other plant has lots and lots of flowers, but no fruit set.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Red jabo

I have 2 six year old Red jabo plants in 12 gal pots which have been fruiting well.  I have been noticing for some time, there are no new leaves on both, even though flowers have set fruits. Is it because they are root bound? What are the signs of root bound trees? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / No chill loquat varieties.
« on: August 23, 2021, 05:30:20 AM »
Are there any Loquat varieties that do not require chill hours? I am asking this because, I had planted some loquat seedlings some six or seven years ago, and on learning that they need chill hours, neglected them. But suddenly last week, I found fruits on one of the trees. They were almost ripe, but the bats beat me , so that I could get only three fruits. They are small, the size of a kumquat, but sweet with slight sourness.

They make the best chips in the world IMO. Peel mature fruits. Cut lenghwise into 8ths, then slice them very thin and deepfry in oil. Take out when the chips turn golden brown. To salt the chips, sprinkle salt water into the oil just before taking them out.

After 9 months I have the first Rambutan marcot flushing new leaves!!!

The same one 3 months ago.

Three marcots failed, as the rains stopped and I forgot to water the marcots and the roots dried. I have 5 more marcots on the tree, some showing a couple of roots.

The seeds were sold to me by a forum member as G. forbesii. If somebody has a G.forbesii plant, I would be grateful for a photo of the plant showing leaves.
