Valentine Pummelo or cocktail grapefruit?
« on: March 01, 2018, 05:43:50 PM »
I need to choose between these trees to round out my collection.

I have an oroblanco planted. Which tastes less similar to an oroblanco?

I'm partial to Valentine.

Cocktail and Valentine are closer to one another than to Oroblanco. They are pummelo hybrids with mandarin while Oroblanco is pummelo hybrid with grapefruit.

How would you describe the taste of the Valentine? Is it acidic at all?

What would compliment my oroblanco better? Valentine or cocktail? Or should I plant those two and forget the oroblanco?

Valentine is very juicy, dark red, fairly mild, lightly sweet. All around pleasing taste.

Oroblanco and cocktail are both white.

I thought the 3 have different colors. See the photo in my link above. for several pummelo hybrids cross sections.
