I have 3 Mexican Cream trees I purchased, the fruits are not large but on the smaller size. Taste is good, but not very good. The Syliva guava is much better and much larger.

The only other non-crunchy guava I haven't tried is Frank's Delores and Jalisco. Brad tells me they are really good so I belive him. Maybe my grafted branch will have one fruit next year so I can taste it. My orange flesh guava should have frutis by next year as well.

Rob, you will like the big yellow passion fruit that I posted here. It is good, sweet with tartness, but not tart like a Fredericks of any of the normal purple fruits.

They should shut down their website if they are still not delivering any orders. He never did answer me when I sent him a private message/email so there must be something else going on.

I hope you have better luck than me on the blood oranges.  I have most of them, except never grew the Moro blood. My blood oranges do not turn red inside or out. The only ones I have luck with red flesh are these hybrids, they are so dark red that even I get some fruits with nice red flesh inside. I did find a Ruby Red grapefruit that will have red flesh inside so that's a good one for me.

Mulberry0126, nice work. But I'm wondering why you wouldn't use a larger tree as the rootstock for this project. It will just keep your multi-grafted branches from growing at a normal pace so your grafts will be slower growing than if it was on a larger rootstock from the beginning. I do have plenty of citrus in ground, so I have the luxury of using larger rootstock in CA. Still looks very impressive though, great job.

Carolinazone, it's been around for a while now, just can't buy any here in the US. It does sound like a good one that I have been trying to get cuttings, but I don't know anyone in the US that grows it, otherwise I would have it by now myself. The other good one for cold hardy loquat is the Rose Anne, if you know anyone that has it.

I did get my Shambala again after my graft dies, shouldn't have let it hold fruit after first year growth.

kulasa, you said,
"I am not a fan of sumo, I think there's alot more mandarin out there that are better. I prefer gold nugget and owari."

If you like oranges and you like mandarins, then you should like the taste of sumo/shiranui. You must have tasted a dud, try getting some fresh home-grown sumo and decide if you like it or not. I have pretty much every type of oranges and madarins that people say tastes really good, and my sumo/shiranui fruits are very good as Brian mentioned. So, I'm thinking you may have just eaten some average store purchased sumo maybe?

Your grafted guava should break through parafilm. I don't know if it can do that with buddy tape, I never use that stuff.

Ok, interesting. I did have both of mine outside in the shade from the beginning. Maybe now they are going to start growing fast and vigorously like the one from Ryan.

You should take a photo of your one leaf, then we can see if it looks like all the others. Just curious how your variety will look compared to Ryans.

I got my from Ryan and the plant was already older, had nice leaves, then in the winter all the leaves fell off and it got me worried. But in the last month the leaves all grew back and looks nice again. I will take some photos later today and post it. Now Ryan's Shine plant looks larger and healthier than my Red Shine I got from Esty at the same time.

Wow, very nice guys. Nick has a monster leaf. Now I don't know if I want to show my small leaves on my two plants. Nice growth on yours as well Nate. Maybe I better move my plants into a larger pot, the treepot may be too small.

66
Yup, but I did have it out of the fruit since the time I send yours and others seeds with the cuttings. I just planted them a week ago.

I had another member (Satya) told me his seeds I sent him also started growing in 3-5 days, something else, isn't it?

The mother tree is large and vigorous, maybe that's why the fruits are so large and abundant. It gets new fruits every time I go to the house.

Joe, nice growth on the Shine.

If anyone else has the Shine growng now with leaves, can you post it here, I'd like to compare the leaves of Shine to my tree.

If you show me yours, I will show you mine. I also have a Red Shine grape growing.

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: Rooting Fig Cuttings Question

Va Beach Grower, that is a neat way to do it. So to clarify, when you put the first ziplock bag around the cuttings with mosit paper towel, it is only covering the lower portion of the cutting correct? That is why you would need another larger(gallon) bag to enclose the entire fig cutting?

69
Thanks for the reply Brian. One more question on this fruit, does it taste good?

70
My seed update, planted on 3/30/24. They are starting to grow out.

Ok. Yeah, I like the bumpy fruit surface, kind of neat, much more bumps than the ponderosa lemon. The only other fruits I have seen with similar or more bumps are the Kaffir lime and Bizzarria lemon.

Is your lemon fruit large like a grapefruit? Also, if you take some photos of the leaves then I can confirm 100% that it is a macrphylla or not.

That is a rootstock tree that over grew your named variety on that tree. It is called macrophylla, good rootstock for lemons mainly in CA. Fruits are typically 1 lb or larger.

Oh, good to know, I will watch my Oliver and Sherry for the red blush.
