Big guess..
« on: March 04, 2015, 06:14:12 AM »
Hi guys, I have a question for all Annonaceae experts: I received the following photos from Brasil regarding one specie not easy for me to identify. It is in a protected natural park in Minas Gerais and no idea of the specie it belongs nor the variety.. local people say it is not a biriba or atemoya. May it be a Duguetia relative? Any guess?
Thanks for your help,

Giampaolo

Nobody is expert enough? ;-)

More details: it's very coriaceous and when cut it becomes brown very fast, it follows another pic.

Post should be moved outside of buy/sell/trade forum. It would get more exposure under the correct board.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Is hard without photos of the tree, flowers, etc. Doesnt look like a Duguetia more like an Araticum, or Annona sp.

Thanks Dreamfrutas, unfortunately I don't have more photos and I'm thinking if it worth to get the seeds of this tree or not. The fact is that the owner of the land where this tree grows has never seen this kind of fruit and considering he is one of the representatives of farmers asociation in Minas Gerais is very strange that none of them have identified this plant yet...

no it's not this species...

i agree with Carlos, must be a close relative of duguetia...

not sure if it's worth collecting...did you get a report of the fruit quality?

definitely a close relative of magnolia (maybe a magnolia?), but not quite in the genus Annona.

Adam, Carlos said it could be a relative to Annona and not to Duguetia!?!
By the way, the guy sent me these photos is going to give me more info in the next days. I suspect this will be not a bad fruit to eat when ready for ripe..

In the meantime I'm going to get from him also some fresh seeds of Annona Crassiflora now and Annona Coriacea in July

Cheers,

Giampaolo

I agree with Carlos, not a duguetia. Looks closer to an annona. Those seeds don't look ripe.
