Title: CA PSA Pharaoh moth on cherimoyas.
Post by: spaugh on November 13, 2019, 12:44:39 PM
Found a bunch of giant catapillars on my cherimoya trees.  The biggest ones Ive ever seen, as big as a hot dog.  They do a lot of damage quick.  Check your trees, they will strip them fast.  I pulled a bunch off last night and am going to do a light sray of BT today.

This is not my picture but its what they look like.  It blends in  with the tree, you can see missing leaves on branches if you have them.  And poop on the ground.  They will eat a lot of leaves in one night.  Its similar or the same type that eat tomato plants. Last year I didnt go to the orchard for a week or 2 and they really defoliated my cherimoyas badly.

WTH for sure.  Giant bugs around here.  The wildlife are getting more desperate lately too.  Deer and coyotes are coming around and eating everything since it hasnt rained for 6 months.

That is huge! If it is a hornworm you can use a blacklight to find them at night.

You could catch a goliath grouper fishing with bait like that.
