Looks like something is munching on tender new growth.

Cool thread! I'm curious re what can be grafted onto e. uniflora, as I have probably 50+ of them growing around the fence line. The fruit sux (look beautiful), but if can graft something good on them, would be lovely.

Best time to graft mangoes in FL is summer. Heat not a problem. You want scions with energy, ready to pop new growth. Protecting new grafts with shade cloth or other means is wise, and try to keep the graft union dry. Good luck!

Peanuts

Which peanuts do best?

Growing some here, forget the variety.

Green peanuts are the best to me, harvested when still a little soft. Makes the best boiled peanuts.

Ceci Love seedling we are growing has leaves that smell very piney and spicy when crushed. While I do like the piney mangoes a bit, it's not my fav of flavor profiles. Hopefully it's more like its mother than it seems.

Might need to do more controlled crossing. For next flowering season, was thinking of attaching a mesh tube between Sweet Tart and Ceci Love, letting some flies in, and crossing them.

Okra rocks! Will try your recipe Galatians. I like it fried too.

Yes, lubbers are back, and they LUB crinum and even mango leaves. We call them demons. On larger plants, not an issue. On a small tree or ornamental, unwelcome and worthy of das boot!

Jumping spider is spectacular! Great shot Daintree!! People actually keep those as pets, probably sitting on a spider gold mine over there ;)

Ya just can't stop getting more stuff. I feel the same. If it grows well and it's food or medicine I want it here. I really have a collection beyond my control but it keeps me on my toes for sure. I now do the plant nursery thing full time. Hopefully that'll help me keep up. Potted up a ton of stuff today. Still planning on doing more. Labour of love though. All I wanna do is screw with plants in my own yard all day and live off my efforts. A bit scary fully relying on myself now but hell I already made $140 just today having two people stop by. It's highly variable though. I could make $500 in a weekend or <$50 in a whole week. Don't have a ton of expenses though. My place is fully paid off.

Grow lots of my own food. Fully meat self sufficient but I rely on store bought feeds mostly though. Should pull up around 200-300 pounds of potatoes this year. Still gotta get sweet potatoes in too though. Got around 80lbs of regular potatoes last year and 65lbs of sweet potato. Hope to at least double or triple both those this year.

You are my dream neighbor =)

Chop that slacker tree down and plant something productive!

...maybe give it one more summer, but make sure it knows you mean business

I agree, mulberries! ...and sapodilla, until the mangoes start.

Passion fruit usually are in that zone and a fav, along with bananas.

Great job building up some diversified fruit factories in your multi-graft trees!

I am jealous =)

4 varieties, including rootstock, is as far as I've gone (mangoes).

Gonna try doing a yangmei cocktail tree.

$50 seed/plant/cutting/whatever is all relative. Thanks to inflation, $50 aint that much anymore anyway ;)

I've got some reasonably priced and high priced stuff from Kam, most of which which was not available anywhere else.

The health/quality of plants and customer service have been superb.

No regrets, plants are all doing well and can't wait to try them and share.

With most varieties I've tried, good ole stick-it-in-the-dirt method is best because cheapest and easiest, with great outcomes. No need to unnecessarily overcomplicate things.

We feed our parrots all kinds of fruits, but she is a bit picky. Go lght with any new additions, and see how they do. I would be careful with seeds, annonas for example. No avocado. No cacao.

Would love to see pics of the parrots munching some fruit! =)

Great pics and updates everyone! Still looking like a nice season.

Planted our 3 gal Sugar Loaf 4/2019. It held a few fruit last year, but critters beat me to them.

She's holding more this year:

From what I know, OE seems to be more precocious than OS. My bro in law's tree is way smaller than both of my OSs, and he had lots of flowers and now little fruits. I only have a few OS fruit.

I just shove several fresh cut sticks into dirt filled pots and water like crazy, dappled sunlight. Great takes. Wait till they grow a bit, lots of roots, then pull them up and separate the roots and repot. Can't recall ever losing one when repotting.
