Title: Young Jaboticaba Sabará Flowering, Stressed or Not?
Post by: Th3_BrazilianShark on February 13, 2018, 10:27:12 PM
Greetings to all!
I want to share something with you guys which I believe to be very interesting.
I have few Jaboticabas growing in pots (20-25G) in the backyard. A month ago, I noticed that one of the thick branches of my Sabará (8-9 years old) was growing towards another one and I tried to stop it placing a small piece of wood between them, as you can see below.

That caused the main trunk to split just a little bit, I didn't even worried about it.

Few weeks later I was surprised to see that the plant started flowering for the first time, So I was wondering, was this coincidence or the injure stressed out the plant? There are no many flowers being developed, but what I think to be very intriguing is that the flowers are coming out on only one of the branches.
The plant is super healthy and growing so beautifully. I built a vortex brewer and I feed all my garden plants with compost tea every 15 days, also foliar spray (Nitrozime).

Could be stress, but also they take around that long for it to flower out. Could be just a coincidence.

I noticed today my sabara has a few flowers on it. Last year it produced 6 fruit for the first time
in the spring and it is probably around 8-9 years old. I kept expecting it to flower again
but not a year later?

Did you build the Vortex brewing system from scratch or you bought a kit?

If you built it from scratch can you send or post a parts list?

Thank You!

I was just luck to have this plant fruiting with 8 years, I have a friend that have a 10 years old one and have not produced a single fruit.

I was reading that on your thread, but you also mentioned that what you believed to be a flower stopped growing, did you get fruits developed?

Hello there!
Yes I built it from scratch. Some of the parts I bought online, some at local home depot. I will post or send to you some of the part links if they're still available.
Thanks
