Title: Quararibea cordata search
Post by: Jkanyok on July 17, 2018, 07:12:37 PM
I know others have looked for this and not been able to find it, but I have not seen a post in around one year. So, does anyone have any lead on getting seeds or seedlings of Quararibea cordata? I know it fruits at the Fairchild, and I’ve heard it exists in a few other Florida locations, but I cannot seem to find it online anywhere. If anyone has any leads it would be greatly appreciated thank you.

My pics were just of a few trees in Cairns that finished fruiting in May/early June. They were festooned and the friend in the pic above also grabbed a bag of them. There are probably very few trees that produce that much volume per area.

The fruit is great. One of my top favorites for sure. Its like a musky catelope/papaya with a mild mango flavor. Also can be slightly fibrous like a mango.

Yuummm. I need to plant more trees.

One of my Quararibea Cordata seedlings popping through !
Easy to germinate. Let them sit in lukewarm water for 48 hours until seed crack from swelling then plant half of seed in potting mixture, half popping out. 😄
