Fruit ID from costa rica
« on: July 25, 2016, 10:03:12 AM »
In Costa Rica right now. Getting to taste lots of new fruits. Found an unknown in a gutter. Big, smooth and yellow with flesh like an annona. Smelled like a lemon custard pastry fresh out of the oven. Waiter at restaurant that owns the land said guayaba china, but thé seeds were huge. Anyone recognize?

Those seeds look a little familiar but I can't really place them.  Where in Costa Rica?

Sundrop or Araza maybe... Eugenia stipitata or Eugenia victoriana?

That's a good guess, araza.

There's a lot of chupa chupa around now.  Achacharu, some mangosteen, rambutan, etc.

Will look for achachu. Had chupachupa, rambutan, mamon, nance, cashew apple. One smell of noni was enough. Have been looking for mangosteen but no luck so far. Wish we were headed your way :)
