Mangos of Merritt Island

Curious as to how the mango crop is fairing on Merritt Island.  Looking to sample some of those fruits.  Anything available this weekend?

Unless someone there has an early variety, I think it's a month too early.
They're like the Varmint-Cong...

Here is my largest mango on Merritt Island. It is a Glenn.  As you can see it is sparse with fruit this year.  However, last year and the year before it was extremely loaded so I guess it is taking this year off.  It is getting hacked back this summer as it is nearing the power lines.

Also, May is way too early for mango.

I did pick my first rosigold, which is an early mango. But, it is not ripe yet.

I'll keep an eye open for the South Tropical Trail road side stands and let you guys know when they open.  Typically, they don't open until late June.

Jack,

Was at the grove today and most of the trees  are holding a good crop of mango's. Not a heavy crop on the Indian Sunsets, and Loyal purple mangos :-[.
The new Variety mango trees are doing fine, The ones in the back are doing great with the drippers running on them compared to the ones in front without drippers. Kind of a experiment. The Maih Channock has three mango's on it. :) The Angie is flushing its first flush, and the raposa is getting ready to push also.

About the middle of June we should have Hadens and a few others, and July 1st the others should be coming in and starting the season.

Hope this helped you all.

Joe.

John is who I grew up with, and learned from. When he died his grove was sold to Randy&Kathy who lived just south of Him. I have helped them with indemnification of johns grove.

I knew Ed also, and kind of been helping Angie out around the grove, and doing indemnification for her on some of the trees. In turn for my help and long time friendship with the Family she has let me plant some new Variety mango trees in the grove to help with the selection available for the fruit stand.

We are Friends Helping eachother out.

Let me know if you plan on coming up.

Joe.

I plan on coming driving down from Jacksonville this Saturday.  PM me so we can contact each other.  I would love to see the grove.  Did you get my earlier PM?

Thanks MangoMan2, looking forward to a visit to MI.  I may just have to drive down this weekend to view some trees.

Angie is very busy taking care of her Mom and Aunt, which is why I try to help out. If you come by please wait until the stand is open or let me know when you want to come by and I'll try to meet you.

What variety mangos are you looking for.

Joe.

"TINY many under "LADY"?"

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are asking.  Come again.

That small mango is the turpentine variety.  Can you believe it?  The turpentine made the cover of Florida Gardening Mag!?!
