Anybody knows if they are recalcitrant and take forever to germinate without GA3 treatment ?

I have read numerous studies that show most Annona seeds show their highest % of germination after 9-12mo of storage.  The A. spragui I started have yet to sprout.

All annonas are different, and it is difficult to generalize like that. For example, soursop certainly will start fine without any storage time or treatment. Rollinia, now considered to be annona, also starts fine immediately without storage or treatment. I think it's safer to say that the annonas that come from areas with cool winter might need storage or treatment to break dormancy. And the annonas like that are a small percentage, not most. Because the spraguei is from tropical Panama, my guess is that they would not need any special treatment to sprout them.

Oscar, Ilama,A.cacans and A crassiflora come from warmish places and I found them slow and difficult to germinate.Maybe those species from wetter climates sprout faster and more freely.

Yes that's true about ilama. Don't have any experience with the other 2 you mention. Like most things botanical, it's better to take things on a species by species basis, as there will be many exceptions to any general rule of thumb.

It very depends on the freshness of the seeds - breaking the dormancy of annona spp. can become a problem in itself.

I got Durian and some other from Singapore to Mexico in 19 days, it would have been faster but at that time my city (Acapulco) was isolated by a landslides, broken bridges, and collapsed tunnels for a whole week.

Hey Carlos,
My spraguei and hayesii both germinated I posted a pic of the hayesii already and I will put up the spraguei soon. Mine germinated last week on Friday and more are popping out.
