Are J-12, Super Julie & Fairchild Ruby all the same thing?
Blessed be the man who plants a tree knowing he will never live to enjoy it's fruit or shade.

I just had a super Julie for first time last night, picked it up from tropical acres...smalller than the normal Julie and not as square shaped, tasted as very sweet mango dipped in gasoline resin lol....I loved it, want to eat more and read more about the specs, may consider growing it.

Not sure that is how I'd describe it. To me it was like tasting the air in an Indian Market. Strong Indian Spice flavor.

J-12 is the experimental seedling id. I believe it was baptized 'Super Julie' by Sheehan. And, Dr Campbell decided to name it Fairchild Ruby.

And, yah, it does taste like mango dipped in gasoline :D. My wife likes it though.

J12 is one of my favorite Mangos.  It has a deep, rich flavor that is unique, yet reminiscent of its parent Julie.  Early in its ripening stages I find it has a strong citrus flavor with a potent combination of sweet and tart.  Late in its ripening stages it can be sweet like syrup.

As far as the "gasoline" flavor some are referring to, most of the fruit from my tree have only a slight nuance of this note.  Some none of it, and a few it is profound.

All being said, it is excellent to my palate.  My sons favorite mango, and the best I've had this season.

How big does the tree get? Vigorous? Medium-vigor? Also, is it productive?

Mine is medium vigor, round canopy with consistent medium to heavy production.  Disease tolerant, beautiful fruit.
