How is the flavor of Panama Red, for those of you growing it in Florida -- is it really sweet (like the Australian one supposedly is)?
I'm growing mine on my fence line.
This is the first year I'm getting a good crop from it, the caterpillars would never let it attain much size
I've had some that were 90% and 10% sour, personally, it felt kind of wrong without a decent sour note but still enjoyed it.
Due to time restraints, I would pick them once a week so I would get a few that were particularly sweet and the remaining of a would be like 60/40. (that's sort of my cut off point where I don't want them anymore sour)
If you had the time to pick it completely ripe or a vertical system that made it easier to see everything I'd think they'd be consistently sweet.
With that said it's by far the best-tasting passion fruit I've had.
For reference, To my taste buds, the normal yellow and purple ones I get are mostly sour with a hint of sweet. Maybe like a 40/60 at best
