Hello Fruitlovers,

This is my 2nd post after joining Tropical Fruit Forum.  I need all of your help and suggestions for this Maha Chanok that I bought from Plantogram last year.  I lived in Los Angeles and due to the unusual cold weather and rain, my mango trees are taking a beating.  I have lost two trees to Phomosis and I believed that this Maha Chanok have anthracnose.  This young tree have given me 2 large fruits this year.  It should have plucked the fruits but due to my impatience, it was not plucked.  I was planning to plant this tree inground this year but due to the condition, is it possible to still plant it inground?  Greatly appreciated all your advise.

Mangoes love being planted when it is hot and dry, just don't forget to water a bit here and there.  Once you see some flushing buds remove all those old leaves and burn them or bury them.  Roofs are very dirty, so maybe consider the source of disease as water running off or splashing off your roof.

Don't plant it now, or you will kill it. Spray with copper every couple of weeks and feed it. When it gets healthy and you have some new growth that matures, think about planting. That's why you don't let it fruit at a young age...

Thank you for your replies.  Should I feed all purpose fertilizer or any fertilizer with just high in nitrogen?  It is currently in the 2nd hottest portion of my house.  It gets sunlight about from 8am-4pm.

If I were you i will not use any type of fertilizer except for Seaweed extract and chelated elements, give your mango those fertilizer if you have them + copper fungicide spray.

You may want to post this question to the "Mango Pests, Diseases, and Nutritional Problems" thread in this forum. You'll most likely get more viewing and accurate diagnosis in that thread. I would also strongly recommend that you go through above thread, as it's quite an extensive enclyclopedia of mango diseases and fixes.

Mangos grow very slowly here in SoCal and right now is not prime vegetative growth weather. The temps are still too low and although you may get vegetative growth, you are more likely to get mixed or full blooms if you push the tree with Nitrogen now.

Some micronutrients and minors can help your tree and with all the rain this year, you can spray with Sulfur and Copper in between the rain at the recommended intervals.

A little Nitrogen at this time of year is fine but I would avoid high Nitrogen fertilizers.
