Plant Identification
« on: July 12, 2020, 08:09:45 AM »
Can anyone tell me what this plant is. It was given to my daughter by a friend. He says that it is a Vietnamese variety of passion fruit. I find that hard to believe.

Looking at the leaflets and leaf pattern it is no where close to passion fruit plant / vine leaves but more like some leguminous tree pattern. Interesting. Anxious to know where this leads to.

Pretty sure it's a hummingbird tree / Sesbania grandiflora maybe red or White flower once you get flowers you know and if it hummingbird tree .
They eat the leaves , flowers and pods

Thanks. We have few Agasthya aka Sesbania grandiflora  'rickety' trees with red flowers and long pods. The leaflets of your specimen are longer than ours in Zone 13. Abundant beautiful flowers throughout the year. Thanks.

Once you get some flowers please upload pictures to help identify the plant because Sesbania have a lot look alikes but flowers and seed pods for narrow it down
Sorry I try quote Mucbean
