I know a guy w nice 20 ft high avocado. Started from seed 7 years ago. Still no blooms. I bought a grafted Brogdon (Pine Island) avocado from Home Depot. Planted it last fall and it bloomed this spring. Too young to let it hold fruit this year and (probably)  next. But at least it is well on its way to fruiting

Nutty. I have a 4 (possibly 5) year old Russell seedling that's flowering. The guac trees in my hood normally fruit within 5 years from seed.

If there are other avocado trees in your neighborhood flowering at the same time then your chances of getting fruit are pretty good.

Congratulations to all growing fruit trees from seeds, even if you have to wait 16 years for fruit. You all contribute to the development of new cultivars.
