I think it may be Posoqueria latifolia.

Edit: http://darnis.inbio.ac.cr/ubis/FMPro?-DB=UBIPUB.fp3&-lay=WebAll&-error=norec.html&-Format=detail.html&-Op=eq&id=7056&-Find

It refers to this species as 'guayabo de mono', which google translate says is monkey guava.

Look at the link I posted above. Those seeds do look translucent and they also call it monkey guava.

Hmm that maybe it, there aren't any ripe ones around, but i think the seeds seem viable.

If you look at the pic of the fruit in the link I posted, it's definitely more than a "maybe". I think I have provided the correct scientific name.

It looks like some kind of Monkey Orange, in the Strychnos family.  Stychnos Spinosa is from Africa, but Costa Rica has Strychnos species too.  Seeds are usually poisonous...gulp

The scant amount of pulp surrounding the seeds is good.  Cleaned seeds resemble a tooth.

I guess it's not a monkey orange then, but a Monkey Apple.

The tree is occasionally used as an ornamental.  The long, tubular flowers are quite aromatic.  It occurs naturally on my land.
