Anyone here from the Frostproof, Florida area?
« on: February 25, 2019, 04:03:06 PM »
I am purchasing an old 3.5 acre citrus grove in Frostproof.  The grove has deteriorated over the years and today only has about 1/3rd citrus trees (naval) left and the rest is open to either replant or do something else.  Rather than fight the greening disease, my hope is to transform it into a multi species grove with varieties of tropical fruits that work in the area.  I'd love to connect with others in the area and get recommendations and helpful feedback as I take this new journey.

I've been roaming around Florida for about a year looking for something and kind of fell in love with Frostproof.  I know I could probably do more if I was further South or closer to the Coast but this where I want to be.  I'd love any feedback anyone in the area has in regards to what has worked well for them, challenges they see, etc.

Thanks,

Steve

I think that's a great spot.  You should be able to grow a huge variety of fruit, including mango, avocado, and lychee, but also peach and persimmon.
