There isnt really much info on this. I have read somewhere they can take up to -10 degrees Celsius but really doubt that.

Hi! at least -6.5C they can stand. This was the record min temp i got.

Hi Luisport, thanks for answering. In my area we get those temperatures every few years. Shouldnt be a problem then growing them outdoors.

I have mine in a protected place, below big cork trees...

Mine are still seedlings but someday will try to grow them outdoors in sheltered space and see what happens. I have read somewhere they can take up to -10 degrees Celsius. Looking for that particular site now and cant seem to find it now.

I forgot mine outside when we had the 16F freeze, it had major twig die back but recovered.

How does this lime taste?

From what I have read just as a regular lime but more sweeter, and juicy too.

In Italy there was somebody selling it but turns out it wasn't the correct one.

I did call them and they said it is the Blood lime. I asked what was it grafted to because it list hardy zone 10,11. They told me limon, which is some type of lemon. This is probably why it has such a high hardy zone. You will need to graft to a more hardy root stock. I will purchase one as soon as the funds are available and graft as soon as I learn how. ;D

When Logees first started selling them, they were sold as a red finger lime. Only after they recognized their mistake they changed the name to the correct specie. I originally purchased a tree from Logees when it was advertised as a red finger lime. After I found out it was not a red finger lime but only a blood lime I tossed the tree out, as I did not want to waste my time with it,

Millet, why did you think it was a waste of time? I have read good things about the taste of the lime. Since it is cold hardy I want to try it.

How cold hardy Australian blood lime really is?
I don't know, but I remember doing some research (reading around) in the past, and Australian Desert Lime has probably about the same level of hardiness as Satsuma mandarin (if not slightly more so).

I'll be grafting some from mine & have them available in the spring.

WILL2358, as you wrote the Australia Red Lime does taste ok, but it taste just like a lime. My in ground Bearss lime produces a TON of fruit. I also have black Twig Lime, therefore I don't need any more trees that produces limes.

I finally got my Blood Lime from Logees. It actually was larger than I thought it would be. I have bought plants from them in the past and they were really small.
