Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / WTB Selenicereus Megalanthus Cutting
« on: August 01, 2020, 07:51:37 PM »
I have searched Ebay and other easy access sites but they either want too much, I dont trust its truly S. Megalanthis, or something.  Anyone on here who is willing to sale me one decent size cutting (8 inch or bigger)?  I live in zone 7b and have to bring them indoors for half the year at least which is making my seedling Megalanthus grow poorly.  So a cutting is my best bet I believe.  Thanks for any help

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / WTB Jabo plants/Seeds and more
« on: February 23, 2019, 02:30:54 PM »
Looking for a red jabo which is fruiting or near fruiting.
Vexator plant or seeds
Cabelluda plant or seed
aureana plant or seed
rollinia deliciosa/biriba plant or fresh seeds
and I'm interested in other sweet tropical fruit trees such as: eugenia candolleana, garcinia humilis (have a lot of lemon drops already), and many more.
If you have any of these or something similar with good tasting fruit just hit me up.

Live in North Carolina so may need to wait a few more weeks to ship but figured I'd start looking.  I have to grow basically everything in pots so only want plants/seeds which will fruit in a container.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Physalis/Ground Cherry growing wild
« on: August 30, 2015, 05:58:47 AM »
I found a ground cherry plant growing next to my garden and since I've never planted any I'm assuming birds may have brought me some Seeds  :).  It has a green husk when unripe.  Once ripe the husk and Fruit fall off the plant.  Fruit is yellow when ripe and about the size of a dime.  Are all ripe physalis edible?  If not, how can I be sure this one is?  It grew quickly and began flowering and fruiting before a foot tall.  Seems like a good one and I wanna try it but figured I'd ask some of your opinions first.  Thanks in advance for any info and help.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sugar apple shelf life and storage
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:01:58 PM »
Hey guys, I'm sure it's been asked but everything I found just said "short" so if I order some on eBay, how long will I have to eat it or can I store it somehow and keep the same quality?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Carambola-Star Fruit Purchase
« on: August 19, 2015, 06:06:44 PM »
First I want to say I'm not knocking on this seller I just want the opinion of the forum.  Seems to happen fairly enough, at least to me lol.  Here is the picture and the description states this is the average shipping size and your plants should be close to this.

When I get home tonight I'll upload the pictures of the trees I received today.  Again I'm not trying to talk bad about the seller.  Until then how big you guys think the trees in that pic are?  What would you expect to receive?  I didn't get ripped off by any means.  Just expected something different.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / TC'd Jaboticaba
« on: July 27, 2015, 03:49:28 AM »
Ive been searching and can not find any information on Jaboticaba's grown from tissue culture.  My main question is do they fruit?  If so, is it any quicker than a seedling?  I don't know much about tissue culture except how some figs grown from TC haven't fruited or took a very long time compared to cuttings.  I've seen post talking about how much many of you love Jabo's and figured someone would possible know something.  Any info is appreciated.

Interested in Violette de Bordeaux, Celeste, Verte, Chicago, LSU Purple, Conadria, Marseilles VS, Stella and open to others.  Ive never rooted a cutting so not sure how it will go but since I don't know anyone with any I could learn on I'm stuck buying some and hoping I don't waste the little money I have to spare :/  Early thanks to anyone who can help.

I am fairly new to Tropical fruits and I figure this may be my best hope for getting some good cultivars or just any that have a good taste (whether cultivar or not).  I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me with cuttings that I can try rooting since it seems growing from seed may be pointless, at least from what I've read.

Looking for:
Figs (suited for Zone 7, hot humid summer of NC.  Violette de Bordeaux, Celeste, LSU Purple, Hardy Chicago, and Better all seem great but I'm open to suggestions)
Guava (any good tasting)
Lychee (will grow in container in greenhouse)
Longan (same as lychee)
Carambola (also container)
Dragon Fruit (preferably American Beauty, Purp Haze, Bien His red, and Delight but will take any red, pink or purple fleshed and definitely would like a yellow Selenicereus Megalanthus)

I hope growing these from cuttings is possible but again im new so i may be wasting my time writing this but i have high hopes.  Please let me know if you have any of these or other great tasting Fruit (I'm crazy about Fruit, could eat it all day everyday lol.  Message me with info and what it will cost me but unfortunately I'm a single guy with very limited funds so I may not be able to afford some. Thanks in advance for any help.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Carambola grafting
« on: July 09, 2015, 06:17:09 PM »
I am completely 100% new to Tropical fruit as of 3 months ago.  Ive bought plenty of seeds and started those but haven't bought any good live cultivars.  I am about to receive some B-17 star fruit scions and was wondering if I could treat these like cuttings and root them or will I have to graft them onto a live tree?  If I have to graft them then how old must the tree be to do this?  Any info is appreciated.
