WTB: Annona Montana seeds
« on: January 08, 2020, 06:03:53 PM »
Anyone has annona montana seeds to sell or trade?
I am told there are different cultivars some with pale flesh and some with a more yellow flesh as well as some that are less bitter.  Interested in all types.

How is the taste of this fruit. Useful Tropical Plants says that

The fruit is juicy, yellow pulp has a subacid to bitter flavour. It has a strong arom. The globose fruit is up to 15cm in diameter. It is inferior to that of soursop (A. Muricata).

I want to try it because it should be more cold tolerant than muricata. I have a hard time keeping my soursop happy in winter time.

Glad to see these become available.  I have already managed to get seeds for two varieties of this so don't need at the moment.  Thanks so much for the reply to my post tho.

I got seeds of one from Jim West in 2010 and the biggest tree is 9 feet, I just planted it out lasted summer and it is fruiting now. It survived the long cold periods of southern California with just a bit of leaf tip damage. Hopefully the fruit will grow quick as the summer approaches.
