Nice guy. He moved from that house so I'm not sure what all happened to his trees. He had a nice collection coming along back then.

I sourced my 'Shekwasha' (and Nasnaran) from JRozier around 15 years ago. He got his original start from Woodlanders as a seedling in the mid '90's. I can't find my pics of it but he has great pics of the fruit here:

Very interesting tree and history. What do you do with the fruit? Rosaries? Marmalade?

I have this tree and have had it for many years. In fact it has survived the coldest temperatures thrown at it along side my citranges, citrumelos, yuzu and other wacky trifoliate hybrids. I even forgot to mention it on my 2014 survivors list because no one ever seemed to be interested in this variety. Recently for some reason Shiikuwasha/Shekwasha/Citrus Depressa or whatever you want to call it has seemed to gain popularity and people want to get it.

I've been there too. Bare rooting in a hotel bathtub and in the parking lot lol!

Here is another description here:

Seeds have come up true for me. I've even grafted mature ginger lime scions on ginger lime seedings as they actually do grow well on their own roots

7 Ginger lime seeds for $5 shipped US.

Described here at a taste testing at Gene Lesters:
"Ginger Lime: The name is pretty accurate –this guy is a lime with a gingery tasting peel.   Pretty darned good.  Most citrus leaves are not aromatic –kieffer lime leaves (aka lime leaves) are the notable exception—but ginger lime leaves are. They have a great gingery aroma.  We want to throw some ginger lime leaves into soups."

Mine has typical small sized finger lime leaves. Its possible that you have a hybrid.

If you have any interest in hardy citrus here's your chance to actually try some fruit for yourself. I have some fruits of Thomasville citrangequats, Taiwanica sour orange aka Taiwanica lemon aka Nansho Daidai, yuzu, a very limited clem x tri x clem and maybe a couple of lemandarin available for sampling. I'm asking $12 for a small priority box for about 16 Thomasville fruit. Taiwanica fruit are larger and they won't fit into a small priority box so price will depend on amount ordered. Clem x tri x clem are very limited so I'm asking about $4 per fruit plus shipping.

*Also a small amount of Taiwanica, Pong Koa mandarin and a slightly earlier ripening variety of Thomasville budwood is available.
