Any idea on the number of vendors and variety expected?  Last show I attended was 2017 and 2018 and was great selection and attendance.

15 and 25 gal plants...should I lay on side pointing potentially doenwind...maybe loop together with rope?

Good point on falling fruit...especially a VP...

That was my first choice as well as I watch my VP add another 5 feet since last fall!

Someone told me they wanted to plant a mango tree just for the shade aspect, as they loved the look of a full grown mango tree.  What are recommendations for fastest growing types?  Not concerned on fruit taste, quality etc.

Good info Mike--I noted a lack of discussion on the boards about it which is why I inquired.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Experience with Melaleuca mulch?
« on: May 31, 2017, 06:58:40 AM »
Picked up a couple bags at Lowe's for a small project we are working on at a neighbor's house. Looks like some good mulch, with the added benefit of using the remains of a problematic species to grow more of the good stuff. Anyone had any long term comments on the stuff?

Thanks I will check them out--!

After the Manatee Fruit Council sale, I responded to a nearby lychee fruit sale ad and the guy had 4 absolutely beautiful 25 ft lychee trees and incredible mango trees full of fruit in his yard. He planted them 20 years ago and they were really something to see. All organic and he only uses oak mulch from a friend.  I live in Fort Myers so trying to find a closer  source. Any ideas?

Oh and his Mauritius lychees were fantastic!

Great publicity---it really is remarkable to think what most people are missing. I noticed you had 3 persimmon trees..can I ask what kind and what one you would recommend here in Ft Myers? PM me if needed.

Wayne..first vendor on the left...is he going to have a company name showing?  Thanks for the info--

14
To avoid the hectic atmosphere, are any vendors out there who will be offering persimmon trees and can direct me to their booth?  PM is ok or just post here.

Before you give up, I will let you know I have a client with a 5 acre parcel that I have been working with on Pine Island, the fruit growing mecca of SW Florida. We have been looking at some potential development of several other small building sites he owns, but I believe he may have an interest in selling the 5 acre parcel as well. PM me if interested and I will get more info.

Thanks Colin..I always look forward to this sale as there has been a lot of selection and some great values.

Looking to find which vendors may have the following items---
Atemoya
Black Sapote
Jujube
Sugar Apple
Pineapples

If you are a vendor heading there and will have these varieties, please PM me and I would like to head right to your booth. It gets kind of crazy inside and hopefully I will get a shot at a few of these. Last couple sales have been great. Thanks in advance--

Well 3 times 5 equals 15 and if you carry the one, naught from naught leaves naught....not sure if there is an answer to that  :D    I do think larger ones are available.  Have you checked Excalibur for larger plants?  Just a short drive away---make a Saturday of it.

What kind of cost can I expect on the Fafard 3 mix?   How far will a bag go for say a 15 gallon pot?

They will have LZ  soon.  Their Pickering were excellent earlier this week but yes, the more color the better on them.  Their NDM are just coming out and are excellent.  Their Carrie were mostly firm this week, they can take up to 5-6 days to ripen up.

Curious as to availability of photos of larger (est) trees holding some of the newer and newest varieties---we've all seen large Haden and TA trees, but how about some of the largest trees holding Venus, Lemon Zest, Sweet Tart, Maha Chanok and more that might be out there?  I suppose some varieties have not yet seen their maximum size but would be interesting to see how varieties are actually performing.

You can try Golden Gate Nursery but you may have to take a ride up to Fruitscapes on Pine Island.  About an hour from Naples.

When do local Florida avocadoes hit the stands?  Would like to try some different varieties this year as taste tests.

Thanks--I guess another 2-3 weeks min for mangoes
