PLANT SUGGESTIONS
« on: November 10, 2016, 12:51:15 AM »
Friday I will be visiting ECHO, Pine Island Nursery, and Excalibur Nursery.   I am particularly looking for suggestion for Avocado varieties, but if there are any trees you think I shouldn't miss out on, please feel free to comment.  Thanks!

***  NO MANGOES please, I will already be at my limit, after this trip.

Get yourself a jaboticaba! They don't take up much room, are not super difficult to care for, cold hardy, and are consistent producers. Also they look cool when they fruit!

I second Lychee and jaboticaba.

You might look at sugar apples too. I love mine.

Loquats are another good low stress, low work tree. Only the deer bother mine and some look awesome with fruit.

If you are at Pine Island,  hit up Lara's for their Hawaiian Green Sapote.   The have some top notch custard apples too, San Fernandez probably being the best with San Pablo a close second.

If you go to Going Bananas,  be sure to grab a bag or 2 of their fertilizer, depending on howany bananas you have in the ground at home.

If you are still on the West Coast, you may want to alao try and visit FruitScaprs.  See what atemoyas they ave other than Gefner.

End up with a total of 55 trees, and did make it by Lara's, thanks so much for the recommendation.   I got a San Fernandez Sugar Apple, and the Hawaiian Green Sapote you recommended as well.  I still do not own an Atemoya tho, so I need to pick up a couple.

Just for conversation, it sounded like you were traveling on vacation to these places, but you bought 55 trees. How are you getting that many trees home?
