Seriously mark.it was grafted as Selma a few years ago but got this fruit which is very good. Btw there is nothing unique about Selma ....good fruit but not top tier imo. If you want something special try Fino de jete. This years version dethroned el Bumpo, Orton and pierce

How is that possible about Fino? That should signify everyone's taste buds are very different and trying to agree on the wide ranging variability of flavor and texture in Cherimoya varieties is impossible and fluid from year to year.
In peak season The Fino's in Jete while less than $1 a piece were ... Terrible, much better grown in CA oddly enough.

This was the consensus in 2 early tasting in OC. I have no idea what part of the world you are referring that you paid a $1 and it was terrible....chile ,Spain?? Fino has always been an excellent variety for me but This year it elevated to the top for many folks.....in any case, we'll have this discussion in another thread.

Good to know!  I ordered 2 sticks of Fino from you yesterday (along with others like El Bumpo and Pierce).  Good to know!

Think he was referring to Jete Spain.

dont want to hijack..but since its a popular thread i might get a quick answer....

after grafting onto seedlings should the plants be in full shade/  partoal shade or in sun?

also..is there any benefit to leaving a few leaves of the rootstock below the graft for energy?

thanks
always longing for a JA Julie

On establish trees no problem. we have been much hotter than you guys with less humidity and I have one week old grafts taking. On small seedlings, by all means,  shade them

My Big Red stripped and ready to go for the season

It's 93 with 37% humidity

Nice!  What is a tasty cherimoya but with a low seed count.  Have read from a taster who did a seed count on several that Fino fits that description not too many seeds.

Ilamas on custard apple stock (reticulata)

Genova Red

Anona Rosada

Both grafted 2/27/17
Still waiting for the others to push.

In ground tree grafts were doing well until some critters decided to chew on the tags.
Still some takes

Good job on the grafts! I'm getting nice takes on mine.
Just a reminder, I will delete all cherimoya scions in less than 24 hrs. Atemoya scions will remain until the 19th
Thanks to everyone for their business!

Shouldnt be a problem. We've been high 90's low 50's and every graft that's 2 weeks old has taken

I know, and I'm very excited to see how it does when it full takes. My parents would tell me memories about how they loved this fruit, and I'm hoping to remind them of the taste when I get my first fruits.
