I've seen people bring these cuttings to CRFG meetings but then people mention toxicity so I didn't get one to grow. I think it's easy to grow.
Very easy to grow & root from cuttings
freeze killed mine back(zone 9 New Orleans) 26F - but it came back fine.Chaya needs to be cooked.there are several other edible leaves i like better.Katuk is edible raw, and tastes like peanuts.baobob actually has one of the best tasting leaves ive had.and i think its just as healthy, or more, than Chaya.Tree spinach is rather good also (chenopodium giganteum ?)

Thank you, Frank. The restaurant is just across from USC. I used to walked across the campus and had lunch at the original El pollo loco on Figueroa St - when they were not a franchise -- and they carbon the fresh chickens on the steel rods, on charcoal fire bed. Can't find Chaya con huevo on the menu, but the tamale stuffed with Chaya sounds interesting, but I will skip the green drink for now to build up my toxic resistance first. Very interesting menu I'd like to try all.Brian
