Growing Mangoes in high rainfall areas
« on: November 15, 2017, 07:29:35 AM »
I found this exceptionally good Mango (RIC) in Ecuador. The weight is arounds 4oo grams skin is thin, almost no fibre and the brix is an overwhelming 24, thereby competing with what many consider the best Indian Mango Alphonso.

In South Africa they are using a special rootstock that is salt tolerant to grow Mangos in land where otherwise no Mango would grow,

This semidwarf everbearing Mango (Saint Martin) is growing in a high rainfall area in Peru that is giving fruit already after 3 years according to locals.
The question is if Saint Martin will be used as a rootstock can varieties like Ric give fruit in high rainfall areas where Mangos grow but usually never fruit?
