« on: February 05, 2018, 10:29:53 PM »
Just found out about this hybrid. Its essentially a Pummelo x trifoliate hybrid. Its actually pretty common in the rootstock field.

So it's a citrumelo variety?  What's it called?

That's what the variety is called. In this case you could call it a Citrummelo since a shaddock means pommelo so it's an african pummelo mixed with rubidoux trifoliate. I don't know what the hardiness is so I'm gonna guess it's not relatively hardy. Pummelos are zone 10 or 9 and R trifoliate is 5.

So if you do 10(or 9)+ 5 = 15(or 14)/2 = 7.5(or 7) So the average of the zone hardiness may or may not be 7a or 7b. I'm in zone 7b/8a so I might have a chance.

Well, my Dunstan citrumelo trees have performed pretty well here in zone 6b for the past three years with no protection.

No, I grew my citrumelos from seed from fruit given to me from a grower in Virginia Beach.
