Great place to visit, tons of stuff to see. You cannot go around picking fruit, but are welcome to any fruit on the ground, there is an entrance fee but it is well worth the price of admission.

All of the above is true. There are also tours. I've found the best time for tasting is the weekend prior to an event before all the fallen fruit has been picked up. There is always something to taste if it's in season. I had never tasted longan until I visited there and got to try several varieties in one day.

For fruit lovers, this should be at the top of your "places to visit" list. It's THE place in South Florida for a large variety of tropicals in one place.  Using the park as your base, there are a bunch of cool places to visit in a 5 mile radius plus all the Krome Avenue fruterias are minutes away.

ya they have it, but not fruiting yet.

They have the tree in too much shade I think.

I have 2 Chupa Chupa in the ground in full sun , not the fasted growers and I think they would have liked a little shade ( at this point , close to 1 meter )

You can compare it to Annona purpurea taste and pulp wise , more or less , but with only 4 - 5 seeds .

I only grow it because it looks so great and is on Bill Withman's book cover....LOL

Have no doubt. A good chupa chupa, as the name translated as lick lick suggests is worth licking your fingers for. The taste is very similar to a good canteloupe. Some can be stringy, but not all.

Photo of the flowers of the Chupa Chupa tree at The Whitman Pavilion @ Fairchild in Miami last year. I am going next weekend and will report on the current status.
