Thank you very much gentlemen for your very kind offers.

Harry, the kind of Trini that doesn't have a Julie is the kind that has eaten Julies until they were coming out of his ear.  That being said, I am also the type of Trini who will commit this sacrilege and say that Julies are over rated.  Perhaps it is the fact that I have consumed Julies like they were going out of style and now a whole new world of mangos have opened up to me.  If you grew up eating pigs feet and then someone pulled the veil from your eyes and showed you bacon, pork chops, baby back ribs and all of these better versions of what you are accustomed to, pigs feet would lose their luster.  Despite all of my previous ramblings, I do have a Juliette with Super Julie grafts on it that hopefully would take.

I really like the Tog Bi Con/Ivory it has a nice texture, cool shape, and a slight vanilla flavor.

Harry,

I just noticed that you left Tommy Atkins off of your list.  Hoarding the good stuff I see (It goes against every fiber of my being to use an emoticon but I just can't tell if I sound like an ungrateful jerk who actually wants a Tommy Atkins without it so here we go...  ;)  or would  :P  be the sarcastic emoticon?)

I did leave ole Tommy off the list.  I do have one, but it is a small tree and there is little bud wood to spare....even if you wanted some, and I know you don't.

Hmmmmm...how did that happen.  I could have sworn I saw it on dongerogio's list and so didn't list it on mine.  I must be seeing things or being in too much of a rush.  So.....yes, I do have Maha Chanok also available for local bud wood collection.

In a moment of clarity today, I looked at this post and realized what an addiction I have.  "Wanted: Any mango tree I do not have"   I mean really!  I think I need to check into rehab

Pot, I would like you to meet Kettle.  Patrick, I have been to your house and have seen the addiction in its full blown form.  Granted, I lust after your collection but if one of us is qualified for the facebook article, it would undoubtedly be you!   You dance on that fine line between the collection I would love to have and the cautionary tale that should be told to all new forum members on what this hobby can quickly turn in to.

You aren't kidding! I ran out of space two years ago.  Almost everything in my yard has been ripped out and exchanged more than twice (which is common I hear).  I spent New Years Eve spreading tree chips in the dark (stopped at 11:15pm), and New Years Day removing all citrus and sodding over the patches.  The Christmas Holiday was used to remove invasive clumps of Heliconia.

Oh yeah, I also bought two more Tina Grafting knives. One left handed, the other a fixed blade.  I found them on http://www.timmenterprises.com/specials/tina.htm .  They have a couple knives that run about $100 anywhere else at $23.05.  (a model 641/10L to be exact)

haha look at Walter with any of his mangoes. One year, it's the best mango known to man and beast; the next it's top-worked with a different cultivar. I think the only trees in his grove that hazn't been top-worked in a few decades are the keitts that are probably the $$ makers.

I think it's part of modern culture to get bored with things and long for 'new.' Applies to cars, cell phones, music, hair styles, clothing, TVs, etc (sometimes even spouses!). Things go out of style pretty quickly these days.

Yanking the citrus and heliconia was a smart move... :-)

I was at your house about three years ago and it was literally a rainforest.  I visited again about six months ago and I would swear I was in a different place altogether! I actually have a few pink grapefruit on my counter from one of the weeks casualties, but no regrets for sure.  Good grapefruit can be purchased anytime for very cheap.  The others I am convinced had Chinese citrusaids anyway.  The heliconia, although beautiful, went from a single onion sized bulb to a mass the size of a small car in eighteen months.  I had quite a few varieties from Montoso and Vivero Anones.  I still have about a dozen of them, and a few gingers from PR that may donate to Mounts or my daughters Edu-Garden at her school. My back cant take another removal job!

HAHAHAHA you should see it now. When I was in grad school and working f00l time and too busy to really spend much time in the yard, the mrs went into "collection" mode and converted the backyard to a jungle :-). I spent the past year converting it back to a back yard :-).

I had the same experience with heliconia. Beautiful plants, but boy can they multiply.

You're lucky you can even grow citrus. They don't last more than a year here in our high ph soil. But ultimately any fruit that can be purchased at the store doesn't get a spot in the yard :-).
