Orkin, I agree with you. Thanks to the generous patron who buy unique plants, rewarding the efforts of producers - progress and dissemination of new varieties is possible.  Sure you can buy a house for a unique tree; just like a small but very sought-after picture, you can buy 5 or 50 houses. Spectacular market laws :)

However, I often meet situations when governments over-regulate the market. Hence the mention of protectionism (which, of course, can affect prices).

Each variant/plant can be copied very quickly, it causes a drop in price. It is unfavorable for the producer and the government, but very beneficial for customers. Hence, the information that the market quickly reduces such price differences (if governments do not interfere in this).

Of course, this is a loose discussion and I wish Adam a success and a raise of at least USD 500 for his plant and work...

Happy for you bro, those look like pretty decent (insanely good) prices for trees on eBay.  Outside my price range unfortunately but it's good to know your craft is appreciated and rewarded.  Keep it up.

Orkine, the price (outside the classical one: the price regulates the demand) in this case is a derivative of two things:
1) The American market is almost hermetic (closed) and formally practically blocked for producers from the rest of the world. The official reason for pest control; however, the matter is more complex and can mainly be based on reborn protectionism.
2) A small supply of similar plants in the US (with the option of shipping and purchasing via the Internet) with an excess of buyers. Hence the price that similar trees achieve. In poorer countries it is possible to mass produce such trees at a price of USD 20-40 USD max. So in poorer regions price level higher than 50-100 USD  is only an unfulfilled dream of producers.

Despite this perspective, I agree with you that the price achieved by Adam on eBay is extremely good.

It looks like the best selling season for plants in the USA is over. People think about holidays. This time, after one day your tree reaches the price of about 300 USD. It may also be a matter of less favorable trunk appearance. Usually, however, such slightly twisted plants develop very well, and such twisting is of no great importance.

No. After ordering, no any contact with seller. Probably a cheater. Please stay away!

Grafted Plinia sp. "Anomaly" sold for $ 860
$ 1,000 did not break, but it's still a good result.

People in America have a great gesture!
From the initial price of USD 0.1, they have now been up to over USD 500 in one day! and two days to the end. This is a great achievement for this unique plant slightly larger than a large foot. Im very impressed! Do you think Adam that it will "break" 1000 USD?

I do not know how others are reading but I feel encouraged to grow similar plants. And it's not only about money, but also an interestingly illustrated physiognomy of a mother's tree, which is very interesting :) On the other hand, with the eyes of my imagination, I see that in a moment 1/3 of the crew of this forum will starting to cultivate plinia ;)

I made a purchase a while back on ebay from a "beautyladyinfo".
John, I also came across this person. She sent me one or twice moldy, dry, light and empty durian seeds.  From what I remember when I started a substantive polemics, she quickly changed her nickname on eBay so that I could not give a negative opinion and warn others.
I think we need a sticky thread at the top with any and all info we have regarding known and suspected scammers. Of course, we don't want to incriminate anyone hastily, so of course, the accused can have their opportunity to present their case and have their name removed. Thoughts anyone? A perm-thread to warn forum users about known scam artists?
A great idea Kalan.  It could work well until someone changes the company name, nickname or moves the page, but if the Admin agrees, that's all we can do. Just like the list of good nurseries, the case of dishonest / bad sellers should be arranged in one place. Only there are many such cases and we probably would not like to read daily about how someone robbed someone. I do not know what Admin thinks about it, and whether it is technically to be done in this forum but it would be good if that/ this warning thread will be always on top. That entry in such a warning thread would never appear on the main page as the last entry. Then, whoever would like to read - he could be there, and the discussion about theft and scams would not dominate other topics.

Msk, there is no response yet.

Probably an avalanche of mud has cut off the "seller" cable internet connection and destroyed its seed stocks. I'm guessing that as soon as the service restores his connection, he'll let us know everything, including the fact that he lost our payments...;)

39
My mail server provides a message that the seller's address @thai-market.online does not exist. Besides, I remembered that there was/is a cheater in this area. I even kept 2 packages for archiving. See for yourself it might be the same person (similar email in their shop and on fake package @thai-market.online and ThailandMrk

Maybe it's the same person or maybe not. In the lychee packet, he sent me a dry longan (suitable for rubbish) and many other trash-seeds. I have checked this seller many times (different species), he sending old, dryed seeds every time. They never sprouting. Only nice packaging+ old seeds. He sells on eBay at its best. Probably cheated a few hundred people or more. People give feedback for a nice, colored package. In the end, to warn others I gave him a negative opinion and regained most of the losses, but people are still taking that seeds on.  Be cautious, he can sell from different accounts. Skip him away!

40
Colleagues, at these prices I never risk more than 10-20 USD for the first time. That's what I took a chance this time. The fact that decent seeds are often 5-10 times more expensive does not change the form of things that in this case there may be ordinary theft. Probably if we refer to this post (and indicate as the reason for the request a refund - no shipping and no contact with the seller) paypal will give us the payment without any problems. If it is confirmed that we fell victim of theft, it is a request to admin to moderate entries (only partial covering addresses) and put a warning (and not to delete) because not everyone can make a copy of the offer page on the forum and we will not have anything to call with paypal.

41
As far as I know, this seller is a trustworthy professional.
kar1ma3, why do you blame the seller for the fact that the seeds have a short life span?
There are many factors independent of the seller that can happen and for which he has no influence.
Out of curiosity, will I ask if the purchase was reported to USDA?

42
Druss, I have similar information like Saltman. I received the last message from Victor on 30/04/2018. In addition, for some time there is a problem with shipping seeds from Brazil. Their customs officers confiscate outbound shipments. It is a mistake that somebody officially limits the business of their own citizens. Perhaps this was the main reason for reducing / stopping or suspending Victor's activity. From several conversations with Victor, I conclude that he is a noble man with a good heart. I hope it that he is whole and healthy. Some solution is to write to him directly (if someone has a stationary address and really wants to know if everything is ok with him).

Hi Adam, you have a very good price $ 10.98 (+ shipping $ 6.98) as per US terms.

Regards

44
Giampaolo, can you describe exactly the average dimensions and average weight of the ripe fruit? Regards.

45

Domnik, in one word the answer is: No.

Zoli, thank you for clarifying the matter in the absence of a guarantee. Although the risk is only on the side of the buyer, I will try your seeds. Regards

46
Thanks for an answer Michael and Polux, but it was question addressed to Zoli, because he is the seller. ;)

Different guarantee standards apply in different countries (and also for seeds). In most cases, the customer expects efficient products, however, sometimes the warranty details are detailed in the descriptions. I would like to obtain the official position of the seller.

Do you think that this type of information is extremely important for the buyer and should be in a professional offer?

I think there are too many variables for a seller to guarantee live seeds (Customs, lost mail, etc.)

The guarantee (regardless of product type) is standard in large sales websites (eg eBay) and wherever you use Paypal by paying for the product purchased in the company. Writing about the guarantee, I am not writing here about the loss of the parcel confiscated by customs officers, but about the parcel delivered to the customer in full (not affected).

I bought
some Pataxte seeds from seedpirates last year and half of them germinated.

Is this sprouted half still alive or has she died?

47
Hi Zoli. Do you give any guarantee for the delivery of live seeds? or the risk is only on the buyer's side? Regards

Hi Lilith-vzla, I asked a similar question about the operation of the Venezuelan mail in another thread. I apologize if someone thinks this is duplicating the entry, but I would like to ask you a little more here. I think this may help to change the fame (as far as delivery time is concerned) with Venezuelan mail;) especially if there has been improvement in their work. What are the differences in the time of parcel delivery by regular Venezuelan mail and DHL in the case of shipping to Europe? Regards

49
Hi Lilith-vzla. When do you expect the availability of fresh mammea americana seeds? Is the Venezuelan mail currently working efficiently and the shipment to Europe arrives after a few weeks, or after a few months as before? Regards

50
But you should’nt even be able to see or bid on my auctions if you aren’t located in the USA, or PR
I gave your entries as an example, because there are probably the most on the forum. However, the case concerns all possible similar entries.

Thanks for explanation FlyingFoxFruits. I understand the specificity of sales in auctions. As you have noticed, your forum sales entries in connection with the specificity of the auction should not include the price visible to everyone (because these are private ads). However, the requirement to provide a price in each sales notification is included in the rules of this forum section. Thanks to this, the same prices are visible to everyone. Someone may judge that such entries do not meet the requirements of the forum regulations, or that there are some exceptions (not described). If you entered the price of the buy now on the auction and gave the price on the forum, the matter would be clean and fully compliant with the rules of the forum. Currently, the situation is different. That's why I'm going to clarify the matter. By agreeing to the auctions in this section we are going back to the option that was earlier. Previously the price was determined privately and no one knew what she was.

The question to the administrator was briefly as follows: whether by the requirement to enter the price in the offer can be omitted by providing links to the bid auctions / private auctions etc? Some forums have 100% excluded linking to the auctions due to the short lifespan of such entries, and therefore their lack of transparency. As I described earlier: after some time the thread becomes illegible to the recipients, and the forum loses some of the value of the information store. FlyingFoxFruits, maybe some solution would be to enter in your forum entries - the initial price and the price for which the product was sold? Then, the requirement to provide prices would seem to be fulfilled and the forum would keep the treasure trove of information. I would like to know if the admin provided an exception in this matter and linking the auction is acceptable in this forum. Simple explanation of the matter and description of the exception, so that everything is clear.
