Jaboticaba with dead leaf tips
« on: June 08, 2017, 02:36:54 PM »
Hi,
I got 2 jaboticaba seedlings (about 1 ft tall) that didn't look good as the top half of all leaves were dry.  They were in bad soil (regular dirt).  I repotted them mixing some half compost, sprayed some kelated iron, and added a week fertilizer.  I am watering everyday.  New leaves started coming up but they also have the tips dead.  Should I repot again with a new potting soil?  What is the problem causing the drying out of the leaf tips?

Negative on the compost with your little jabs. The original "dirt" was probably good enough, given you added your iron and sulfur/soil acidifier. Potting soil= Bad times (usually). Give them a nice peat based mix (Pro Mix Bx) and add a bit of iron and a pinch of sulfur/soil acidifier and call it a day. Get them out of direct sun too. Jaboticaba don't mind a bit o' shade. Hope it recovers. Chris
