First Mango this year
« on: May 26, 2019, 10:56:41 PM »
My Madame Francis gave up a dozen today. I brought them to my GF's house and we had them for dessert. They were so refreshing after a winter of a lot of unripe store bought fruit we all relished them.

Are there any other cultivars ripening?

Regards,

1st 2 Glenns fell off the tree. One was excellent, probably best mango I've had yet this year. Tasted like mango with peaches, coconut, and a little acid. No fiber. Juicy. Heaven. Better than the other Glenns I've tried this year. The other one was really good, but not as tasty.

I've been getting Rosigold for a couple of weeks now. Sweet tart and lemon zest are close this year. Choc anon, Carrie, Venus and Haden also. It's been dry so the Rosigolds are flavorful and very sweet. Worlds better than the early harvested store bought ones...

How are the cotton candy mangos? Are they chalky like some people say? For anyone who has had Cotton Candy and Sugarloaf, what is preferred? I have a spot for one more mango tree and I’m deciding between the two.

Doesn't chalkiness depend on the stage of ripeness?
