very sorry to learn of your loss,

thank you for posting, and giving us a warning.

You probably saved a dog's life by posting the warning.

I think a large percentage of members here feed their dogs fruit...at least I do.

That's terrible Sleepdog , I hope you will get another rescue dog . 12 years old is an advanced age for a big dog , I am sure he/she had a good life with you .
I have a pit and a belgian shepherd at the orchard and 2 yorkies inside the house , they all like fruit specially bananas ...no problem there.....

Some others to be careful about: some dogs here like to eat macadamia nuts and that causes some kind of toxic poisoning. I've heard also that dogs should not be fed chocolate or anything with chocolate in it as they cannot digest the alkaloid theobromine.

Sorry about your loss; that really sucks!  There are many dogs in shelters in need of a good home.  Adopting a dog will save two lives, the dog you adopt and the dog who takes its place.

I missed it too  :(

Are mango seeds just dangerous because of the rupture risk, or are they poisonous too?  I've always made sure to keep my parrot away from them (he'd love to chew them up), I always take the seed out of the central casing before I give it to him, but I don't know whether I actually need to do that or not.  With parrots I know the key thing to avoid is avocado, it's lethally toxic for them; I've read nightmare stories that break my heart.

Sorry for your loss! I feel your pain.  I lost my beloved farm dog over a year ago and still miss his bark, antics, and love.
