Fingerlimes harvest
« on: August 27, 2019, 06:14:58 AM »
This year a small tree in a 2 gallon plastic bag made me a lot of finger limes, it looks like climate here is good for this lime, without the winter of course. I have about 25 fingerlimes at about 25-30g each. It seems like they love the hot weather but not the strong sun, so this year I shielded from UV rays and fruits didn't drop anymore.
I know some guy in southern France has a small orchard and sell these. Anyone knows about him?

Not Faustrime they are like 8 cm long green Microcitrus australasica, very prolific maybe 20-30 limes from a small 70 cm bush tree.

Papilo larvae eat all the leaves? Papilo Cesphontes messed up ours, I stand there watch it lay eggs, then go out and remove them all.

havent noticed any. if you want cure, then use Thuricide BT, its organic and gets all to die upon ingesting. but wear mask as if you ingest you are in for a bad diarrhea :-(

So far so good. It's in a pot, so I can keep an eye on it and remove them if necessary.

As for picking the fruit why not try one? I don't think anyone waits for them to color up to pick, just size up.

I thought only some varieties do that.

Dang Mike, I'll go find a spot for it.

this one is from Citrus UCI Collection and it says pink to red, so I am assuming it will get some color. Also read that longer you keep on tree the deeper the color gets. The Eureka lemons I have have been yellowing on tree for over 6 months and they have turned very dark pink, I will post pics

My finger limes get pinkish on the inside. It’s been awhile, but if I remember correctly it was from fourwinds.

They got bigger, look like faustrime. How can tell the difference?

True fingerlimes are thinner - less than 20mm diameter.
Faustrime fruit are always green, ripening to yellow, and  most fruits are more than 20mm diameter.
