Places to purchase different size Pots in S Florida
« on: July 26, 2020, 07:32:39 AM »
Can you guys recommend a place where I can purchase inexpensive containers in various sizes to grow different trees? Like the ones in nurseries? I’ve checked Home Depot numerous times but they don’t have ones that are in 7, 15, 25 Gallons and the ones they do carry are expensive and don’t seem conducive to growing fruit trees. Thanks!
Zach

Go to your local nurseries and ask, they'll sometimes have used pot bins (some charge). Ebay can have some good used deals on tree pots, I've used them a couple of times. The best deals for a small-time hobbyist I've found is going through the online greenhouse stores. The legalization movement has fostered quite a few of those, and you can find very decent deals ($1-$3 per pot) if you look around and take advantage of holiday/coupon deals and buy enough to qualify for free shipping.

NOTE: there are two types of plastic pot production. Off the top of my head I want to say one type is stamped and the other is blow/injection-molded. Not enough time at the moment to refresh my memory, but one is better for durability/longevity, IIRC.

you will pay a ton at HD. Diamond has 15 and 20 g pots cheap. PIN might give you some old ones, especially if you buy a few trees. Or just ask your landscaper.

If you do not mind fabric 247garden.com has great prices and fast shipping all sizes. A lot out of stock right now though.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

If you see landscape companies doing an install, stop and ask about the pots.  Many times they will give them away and at the very least, would sell for pennies on the dollar.

+1

My dad got around a 100 7g pots for free by stopping by and asking.
I guess it saved them from hauling them away
I'm sure if you throw it a few bucks it will go a long way
