Mangifera graft compatibility
« on: March 13, 2013, 07:05:13 PM »
In one of my all too common moments of tropical fruit weakness I had a Mangifera odorata shipped to me from Hawaii.  Well it survived the winter just fine and is putting out a growth flush now, however I really have no room for this tree.  I was wondering if I could graft a piece on to one of my mango trees just to have a branch for curiosities sake.

I read some information by Dr. Campbell at Fairchild gardens and while it was cryptic it sounds like the grafts will take but might be difficult.

Anyone have experience with grafting different Mangifera species?

Thanks,
Richard

Yes odorata will take onto mango or vice versa. No it is not difficult.
