What happened to my grapefruit?
« on: May 26, 2020, 12:54:39 PM »
Hello everyone, this happened quite a while ago on my grapefruit tree. This was before I discovered this forum so I forgot about it, but I saw it again today and I want to know what happened.

This was only on the new leaves, old leaves and fruit are just fine.

And here is the fruit:

What happened?

Leaf miners looks to be the main culprit.  Use Bayer Systemic to have some control over them. Watch for bulldog catapillars.  They eat leaves. If you are the owner of just one grapfruit tree, keep it watered, fertilized and try to keep pest under control and your tree should be fine.

I tried using sevin when I first saw it, don't know if that helps at all but I will try to get Bayer. It's the only grapefruit I have and i water it daily and fertilize monthly. Thank you for the info!

Seven will not do in leaf miners. They are inside the leaf when you spot them. A systemic gets inside the plant.......Seven is not a good thing to use, especially when stuff is blooming. Welcome to the forum.

Spinosad seems to keep them in check for me.
