I have one It can take some cold, but really not enough heat for it to grow well here.  A little over  foot after a couple years.

Can either of you comment on its flavor (texture, fiber, etc)?  I have not heard rave reviews in the past for sansapote (Licania platypus) so I have never considered it.

Not really.  I keep mine in a pot and it grows maybe a few inches a year.  I got mine as a seed out of curiosity.  Not a viable thing here. It doesn't die though so worth trying in warmer areas.  No idea how good the fruit actually is.  It's unknown enough though that one or two early bad reviews might just keep getting repeated.  I doubt it is super good though.

I have to compare with avocado bigger in size. SImilar consistency not fibrous. Not sweet nobitter. Same as avocado with other flavor.  Not any fruit just because is different gets into my garden. But i have two trees 3 feet tall growing. Besides we all like different flavours.
