Did that Illama have good overall flavor? I’ve tried some and they were really pretty horrible, I guess just not my cup of tea. I felt that Cherimoya and Atemoya were much better tasting but that’s just my palate. It is a beautiful fruit. Thanks for sharing.

Whomever calls ilamas  horrible without qualifying it has no idea what they are talking about.  Har has explain this to the novice that if they are harvest after heavy rains or outside their window they can be awful. Fortunately I’ve had both experiences and I can honestly tell you they are as good as any saramoyos, cherimoyas and atemoyas.

Btw, that’s an amazing looking fruit Stevo and I’m sure it taste as good as it looks

I have had rosada from JF last year & i do really enjoyed the unique taste with tiesa texture.

Yes not as good as an atemoya or cherimoya, however, ilamas are a league on their own.

Do ilamas have a lot of seeds like cherimoyas, or are they less seedy?  I liked rollinia for the fact that it has more pulp vs. seeds than cherimoyas.

They are seedy, however, there is more flesh to seed ratio (at least the ones i had).

Pros can chime in.

Kahled they have few seeds count like Birula atemoya. Tony they have to crack and ripen during the fall or early spring .... they need heat to ripen correctly.

I am quite new to Illama so perhaps my first experience with them left a bad taste in my mouth. I am willing to give them another try. Here are some Pics from the first few Illamas I sampled last year. They were cracked and had a decent color to them but the flavor was off to say the least. Perhaps they were harvested after rains, I am not sure as I did not grow them. I paid a good price for them so I expected superior fruit.
