Title: Best way to control whitefly population
Post by: Jesssfl27 on July 07, 2018, 03:13:12 AM
Seriously, these things are kicking my butt this summer. I try to stay organic with neem since I have lots of bees. Yet I spray and I spray I don't see their populations affected at all. I put up yellow sticky traps and while they worked, I kept getting those brown anole lizards stuck to them. There was always one or two poor lizards stuck in the morning that I'd have to unstick with olive oil. I don't put them up anymore.

Can someone give me advice on how to eradicate or maybe at least control whitefly successfully? I'd like to avoid pesticides but I'll use a mild one if nothing else works.

PFR-97 20 WDG is quite effective and can be tank mixed with horticulture oil such as Suffoil-x

"Pressure washing" them off the undersides of leaves with a good garden-hose pistol, preferably on a 3/4-inch hose, works well to reduce population and filth, especially if done weekly for three weeks.  Then follow-up with an oil spray or soap spray, at labeled rates.
