Those seedlings look fantastic. If I may ask, How long have you been growing them to this point ? Greenhouse?. It has some cold hardiness I believe. Just beautiful with those reddish stems.

About a year and a half to 2 years old now. Seeds are very small and they take a while to grow initially. The mature trees are outside here year round in 9b while the seedlings and immature trees stay in one of the greenhouses over winter.

I once tried growing Nauclea latifolia from seed but all the seedlings died very quickly. Late last year/early this year, I picked up quite a few N. xanthoxylon seeds and was able to figure out the secret to growing Naucleas from seed. They are small, fragile seedlings, but once you get them over the hump, they become pretty strong and fairly fast growing. It does not seem like that many people are growing Naucleas, so it is good to see someone else on the Forum having success with them.

Absolutely. There wasn't a lot of information out there when i first started researching them. Germination and the initial seedling phase are the biggest hurdles. Seeds also lose viability fairly quickly so fresh is best. Mature trees are virtually pest free.
