Pina Colada & Pickering Mango Trees

Hello Friends,

I just recently got a couple of new Mango trees, a Pina Colada and a Pickeroing.  Both arrived in Great shape and super green and healthy looking.  Both are just about to push new growth too.  It looks as though neither of them are experiencing any realy signs of shock.

I love my pickering mango trees!

I bought one tree a few years back, it fruited first year, same size as yours...and the two fruits I got were amazing...I would have paid 5 bucks a piece for each mango, so $10 back in value the first year...the way I see it...and amazing taste a mixture of carrie and glenn...with a nice texture, not mushy like carrie.

Yes, it has the ability to be better than Gary, which also tastes like a Pina Colada.  The key with the Pina Colada is picked at the right time so it ripens properly.  If picked too early, it will not fully ripen and you wind up with a slightly sour, pasty/chalky mango not worth or cutting into.

The trees were sent to me in pots.  The arrived in Great condition and so far have shown no signs of stress or shock.  They did a great job of packaging and shipping.

Thanks for all the nice compliments! The trees are really enjoying themselves in the greenhouse along with my Alphonso, Lemon Zest, & Coconut Cream, all of which are flowering heavily.

Greg - I got my mangos trees from Tropic **** in Florida. The owner's name is Te**** and she is really great. They have a large variety to choose from. I don't have their number on hand,but Google them to find it.

I would not even put Carrie and Glenn in the same sentence with Pickering.  There is no comparison, Carrie and Glenn being nothing like a Pickering.  The taste of Carrie is sweet/tangy, Pickering is pure sweetness.  Carrie is sift textured and when very ripe, turning mushy.  Pickering is firmer and gets creamier as it ripens.  Pickering has a coconut characteristic taste-wise, Carrie, blah.  Glenn, has that same sweet/tangy character with a peachy component and a little better texture.

I really like Carrie mangoes, delicious in my humble opinion, and the tree is very easy to grow..With that said, Ill have to try the Pickering  and see for myself. But what an amazing tree! to fruit in a small Pot like that.
