If you scratch the trunk and see green you are ok
We had a 34F night and I lost some young mangos.
The leaves turned first and then the branches kept dying
and turning black. I don't think you can do anything now.
It is possible the clementine could die and the rootstock could
live. Then you could try to graft clementine back onto it.
9F might have killed the roots depending on how long.
Wait and see

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mulberries suitable for container?
« on: May 09, 2021, 07:29:48 AM »
I would check with your local nursery. Allot of people in your area
like the persian mulberry. It does not like the humidity in Florida
and is not grown here. Any mulberry can be pruned and kept small.
The Thai dwarf is a very productive smaller tree in my yard. It is not
my favorite for taste. I have 12 different types of mulberries and recently
I had some visitors sample about 6 types that were ripe. No one picked
the Thai dwarf as their favorite.

Add pitomba and yellow grumichama

I had a few hot pepper plants and some seedling jaboticabas have the
white under the leaves. I assumed it was white fly eggs? I saw a video
about Castile soap and gave it a try. One of the pepper plants was down to
a couple leaves that were covered with the white underneath. Now the plant is
putting out new leaves and even has peppers. I am not sure how big your Soursop
tree is and if you can spray it down?

Add unusual Suriname cherry.
These seeds were traded to me as E pitanga and they turned out to
be E uniflora. I planted 5 seeds and have 4 two year old trees now in 15 gallon pots.
The first two fruited and the fruit is different on two of the trees. the other
2 trees have small unripe fruit. The first tree has dark purple fruit that is
a small fruit but very tasty and no resinous aftertaste. The second tree has
red fruit that is larger and a mild surinam flavor and no resinous after taste.

I have Redlands and others grafted on the same tree. My multi-grafted white sapote tree has 28 varieties now thanks to all of the forum members here.

On my tree here's the varieties that seem to grow much faster/vigorous than the others:
1. Walton
2. Santa Cruz
3. Super Sweet
4. Bonita Springs
5. Redlands

So I agree the Redlands does grow more vigorous than some of the others. This graft is only 9 months old and doing good. It may be more vigorous than the first 4 on this list but the graft is not old enough to compare it yet. But it does seem to grow faster than others grafted at the same time.
I was wondering if your "Super sweet" is actually a Younghan's?

I was told the Super Sweet is the same as Bonita Springs. I have a Super Sweet and
I recently got a Youghan's gold last year and they seem very different. The youghans is more vigorous
for me and much darker green leaves.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Peach Tree Spots
« on: April 27, 2021, 12:36:39 PM »
I have seen those spots before on my fruit. My guess is a bug caused that
probably a stink bug. I thought the stink bugs popped the skin to attract other
bugs that they would then eat? I read a little and the information was that stink bugs
eat fruit including peaches and also some types eat insects? I see stink bugs on my
fruit especially at the late part of the season and then the fruit gets loaded with
beetles and everything else. You might try spraying some soap next year on half of
the fruit on one side of the tree?

I grafted a Peluche, Avri, and Big Jim a couple years ago
I put them in the ground a month or so ago and each tree had a handful
of fruit for the first time. The peluche was by far the largest and the taste
blew me away.  I can't wait until next year.

After reading some comments, it sounds like PM is on the frits and that’s why I haven’t heard from you. If you could email your PayPal, I’ll be interested in 20 seeds
My email is ChaseNeSmith@iCloud.com

All of my jabos in pots and the ones in the ground flushed after Winter.
I planted out my restinga last Fall and it looked like crap this Winter and I was beginning
to wonder if I should re pot it? Then the Spring flush came and I even got flowers
for the first time. My jabos have never looked better especially the ones in the ground.
I planted them out from 25 gallon pots and the soil was an acidic peat mix with perlite.
Now I have a ring of mulch around the trees and I add epsoma holly tone once a month and a handful
of sulphur pellets and I water 3 times a week with a sprinkler and I try to hand water deep
once a week.

I have a super sweet white sapote and the last 2 years it
produced allot of small fruit that never sized up. The second year
I even thinned them and they still didn't size up. This year the fruit
is getting large and I am hopeful. I have been watering extra this Spring.
Thanks for the info about checking them for softness, I was wondering how
to tell when they were ripe.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: MANGO recommendation

Sometime in July in Cape Coral at the German American Club and at
Fruitscapes they have a mango mania weekend. In the past for $5 you
can sample around 25 varieties. I only went to Fruitscapes a couple years
ago but both were on the same weekend. It's really interesting listening to
the different opinions which is best.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Longan Biew Kiew
« on: April 15, 2021, 09:38:26 AM »
My biew kiew is loaded with small fruit and flowers this year.
In fact all 6 of my longan trees are flowering and setting small fruit
now. Along with the cool period more important is a dry period for
around 3 months? We are not as cool as you stated consistently for
3 months. We may be cool but then we jump back into the 80s.
Now I have to get my lychees going. One other thing you may consider
I know a guy who has 10+ lychee trees and last year he tried to airlayer
them and they all flowered. This year he didn't airlayer and not one tree
had flowers. Maybe there are different ways to stress a tree? Maybe I
will try the potassium chloride on a lychee tree next year how much did you
use and how strong?
