the literature I've seen says that G. acuminata is generally a larger tree than G. madruno.

G. madruno a has larger leaves...

and like Luc said, the madruno is round, the acuminata is elliptical.

they both come from the Amazon region of Brazil, but not sure how much the growing range overlaps.

Has been several years since I tasted them Mhod , ( acuminata and madruno ) basically same taste ...

I must have eaten maybe 20 Mex . Garcinias one after another ( I needed the seeds ) , no problem I have a strong stomach . Now I let someone else clean them , I pay them and they use the pulp to make a marmalade .

Ahh, I forgot that it's "Amazon Madrono" that's the dioecious variety, fruits not bumpy.  Thanks Adam.

Can somebody post photos of G.madruno and G.acuminata fruits and leaves.Thanks. Four years ago I bought seeds from 'Tradewinds', as G.madruno and now after more than three years of growth, they look like G.intermedia.
