For 2014-2015 the growing degree days in Hayward was 3928. That's from HAYX. Right on the bay flats. Inland a mile or two and in the city of Hayward where most of us live- not the airport ;D I would guess 4100+   About Santa Barbara -ish according to Bathraths graph.
I got this from Weather Underground.

UPDATE: April 19, 2017

The Mango trees look better than last Spring. They seemed to have done better after last winter. That surprised me because it seemed like a colder winter this year.

The trees look quite healthy. Now they just need to top work them with some tasty varieties:)

I don't think that is going to happen.

Thanks for sharing.

I was wondering if they were protected this last winter?

I don't know. I too wonder if they were covered.

I do know that the California Pride I posted elsewhere was not covered last winter.
