Alex, do you think that your bloom was triggered by that brutal cold snap a couple of weeks ago that sent temps into the upper 60's? ;)
Here's a pic I took today of some emerging panicles on my Nam Doc Mai.

The trees here tend to start blooming around this time every year. Temps in the high 60s for such a brief period of time aren't really what stimulates the early stuff though. Dryer weather is what triggers it. Cold temps + dry weather will stimulate the remainder of the bloom.

I think it's less the actual temperature than the velocity of the temperature differential. While upper-60 degree temps by itself isn't enough to trigger a stress response, a sudden 25 degree dip from brutal heat + humidity to chilly and dry would do the trick. I was out of the country when that cold snap hit, but it was pretty obvious that it happened when I returned, as there was obvious cold damage to several of my trees (eg, mamey, caimito, ambarella, etc).

Some other trees with a little bloom right now include Rosigold, Madame Francis, and Maha Chanok.

My Rosigold has mangoes about half an inch in size and is still blooming.  One of my pickerings started blooming as well.

That is really odd on the Pickering.

I have four pickering trees; one of them was bound to be a little odd.  ;-)  So far it is just a few panicales blooming on the pickering.

Carrie and Bailey's Marvel are usually the first trees to flower in my yard, but so far this year, Ugly Betty is the only tree to flower.

After days of looking at swollen buds on my ever so dependable Carrie and praying that it would be flowers,  I was greeted this morning by the sight of new growth on one of the branches.  :( :( :(

On the brighter side, I've started seeing blooms on my Kesar.  :)

Blooms are finally starting for me. My 8 year old (grafted) okrung is blooming for the first time. Cogshall, lemon zest, glenn, guava, keitt, nam doc mai, angie, dot, and a few others are starting to kick out blooms. That cold snap a couple of weeks ago did the trick.

The sucky bit is that this rain and humidity is going to mean lots of copper and sulfur spraying for this lazy gardener.

Things are afoot in the SaveMeJebus yard. Several trees are starting to push out what will either be flowers or a mass of new growth. I suppose we'll know in a week or so but at least they are finally doing something.

I got jack! A nam doc mai is struggling to push out of swelling buds and another grafted tree is a bit further along. But no visible panicles anywhere. We need some nice clear cold weather right about now! Forecast says cooler Sunday-Monday but not extended.
