Did you have to protect it from the cold last winter?

Web might be right, when grown in ideal humid, zero freeze conditions. I hope so, because I just bought my first jack and it arrived today! I sure don't want to wait 5 years to see anything from it's current size. But it never freezes or gets that cold here. so hopefully that will help.

But yes, I would like to hear too about your favorite variety.

That's fairly close to the house.  Guess you plan on pruning it regularly?

You shouldn't have a problem fruiting it before 5 years. In the Keys. I'm not a jakfruit expert. I've only had 2-3 varieties black gold, Fairchild and a unknown Cambodian variety.

So far which is good tasting to you, Prof?

I'm considering buying Borneo Red on a website. :)

Don't they say in India that when a man plants a jackfruit within 15 meters of the house he is suicidal! ,aye it is time for an intervention?

Keep it going Frank.  Hopefully you will get some male and female flowers later in the year to pollinate.

Thats a male flower.  In most cases I have seen,  it will take a year or even 2 after the initial year it throws off male flowes to start throwing female flowers.
